As Time Goes By

Dougy Mandagi, Indonesian-born vocalist of Melbourne's The Temper Trap - released BLOODMOON as his first step into electronic music. The debut EP Giving Up Air traces a life lived across multiple countries and identities. The treatment for "As Time Goes By" frames its arc as moving from "a strange kid that just didn't belong anywhere" to "finally arriving... where I feel like myself."

The visual world built around that arc is Jakarta's drag-racing scooter subculture, a community that operates on its own terms at the margins of the city, defined by speed, loyalty, and a specific kind of belonging. The narrative follows two racers across the circuit: an elder who has retired to the workshop, and a younger one who came up watching him. One final race. A bridge over the Jakarta skyline. The visual language combines documentary street footage with experimental post-production, datamoshing, 3D Polycam scans of Dougy captured in studio, chromatic aberration, handled in post by Fustic.Studio in Vietnam. Dougy appears throughout abstracted, embedded in the fabric of the city rather than centred within it.
